Miller Park & Forrest Park
Established in 1889, Miller Park has been a gathering place since the early days of the Mother Road. There’s so much to see here, including the historic pavilion, war memorials, a playground with an interactive water feature, the lake, and walking trails. The park also includes the Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited Miller Park Zoo, the only zoo located directly on Route 66!
At the intersection of Wood and Morris turn left. Parkview Inn is a good place to stop if you are hungry. Otherwise, continue down Morris Avenue. At the intersection of Morris and Tanner you’ll see Bloomington’s Route 66 photo op. Continue down Morris and you’ll be driving past what used to be the area’s most popular tourist camp, today’s Forrest Park. [TM1] In the early 1920s, Route 66 tourists would use this location as a rest area and campground. Today it is a city park populated with mature oak and hickory trees, a disc golf course, a playground, and multiple shelters.
