David Davis Mansion
This Victorian mansion, combining Italianate and Second Empire architectural styles, was completed in 1872, seven years after Lincoln's assassination. Today, the mansion is a State of Illinois historic site. In 1843, David Davis (1815-1886) settled on the eastern outskirts of Bloomington, and his 100-acre farm and frame house were known as "Clover Lawn." Lincoln was a frequent visitor to the Davis estate. The house Lincoln knew was replaced by the much larger mansion that stands today.
