Judge Benjamin Home

Built by carpenter John Routt in 1854, Reuben M. Benjamin purchased this residence two years later. Benjamin began practicing law in 1857, and it was Lincoln who signed his examination certificate. The two men were friends, and Lincoln was known to visit this E. Grove St. residence.
