Dr. Crothers Building
SE corner of Center and Washington
Today, offices and eateries occupy the Dr. Crothers Buildings (116-118 W. Washington St. and 111-113 N. Center St.). Dr. Eli K. Crothers built three commercial buildings at the southeast corner of Washington and Center streets. Lincoln's many connections to Bloomington are manifest in these three contiguous buildings. Several of his good friends, including Ward Hill Lamon and Leonard Swett, opened law offices in the upper floors of the Washington Street buildings. On the third floor of the building facing Center Street, Lincoln delivered his "Discoveries and Inventions" lecture.
